IFFHS AWARDS – THE WORLD’S BEST WOMAN REFEREE 2019 : STEPHANIE FRAPPART (FRANCE)
Stephanie Frappart, born 14 December 1983 in Herblay sur Seine, is currently the best Woman Referee in the World, beeing crowned by IFFHS in the annual ranking 2019 !
She began her career in her country , France, becoming already FIFA listed at 26 in 2009. Since 2011, Frappart refereed matches in the third division of men’s National Football and she became many times the first woman :
- To referee in Men’s Ligue 2 professional in France in 2014
- To referee in Men’s Ligue 1 in France in April 2019
- To officiate in a major Men’s European Tournament, the 2019 UEFA Super Cup
Until now, she refereed 161 Men’s games (79 Ligue 2, 13 Ligue 1, 8 French Cup, 1 UEFA Super Cup) and is also active in the Women Football.

In 2015, she served at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada and in 2017, at the UEFA Euro before having her greatest success in 2019. At the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, she was appointed to officiate the final between USA and Netherlands on 7 July 2019 in Lyon.

One month later, she refereed the UEFA Men’s Super Cup Final between Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC. Three months before, she directed the Men’s Ligue 1 match between Racing Strasbourg and SC Amiens as the first woman also. In November 2019, she officiated the second leg of the inaugural Champions Cup competition between Republic Ireland ‘s Men League Champion Dundalk and Northern Ireland’s Men Champion Linfield !
It was no surprise that she was crowned so in 2019 THE WORLD’S BEST WOMAN REFEREE by IFFHS with a large advance, before Russian Pustovoitova and German 4 times IFFHS Award Winner Bibiana Steinhaus, who whistled in the Men’s German Bundesliga.
