Spanish Primera División for the sixth time in a row!
Italian Serie A repeat on the second place!
The world ranking for the strongest national leagues has been determined annually by the IFFHS since 1991 on the basis of all national (championship, FA Cup) and (inter)continental (confederations & FIFA club competitions) results of the clubs. This principle has proved to be a very sensitive and an objective indicator.
The Spanish Primera División retains the first place thank to the extraordinary performance in the year, so in domestic competitions as continental cups, of their best club, FC Barcelona -winner in the Club World Ranking-, seconded by Real Madrid CF, Sevilla FC, Athletic Club and Club Atlético de Madrid. It is the sixth time in a row since 2010. Previously the Spanish Primera División has been The Strongest National League of the World in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004. Despite repeat his success, Primera División reduced the difference only 80 points from second place.
Italian Serie A got the second place very near from Spanish Primera División. Italian clubs were very good placed in the Club World Ranking -FC Juventus 2nd and SSC Napoli 3rd-. German Bundesliga climbed positions and got the third place clearly. Argentina’s Primera División was the best of South America and got the fourth place. French Ligue 1 had a better performance than years before and now is the 5th strongest league, surpassing Serie A from Brazil.
English Premiere League felt down in 7th position. A poor performance of the greatest English clubs in continental competitions is the cause.
Portugal, Belgium and Russia were the best leagues on the second line in Europe and Colombia and Paraguay for South America.
For other football continents, Mexican Primera División is the best for CONCACAF area, ahead of Costa Rica and USA again. In Asia, the three best leagues kept their same places than 2014: Republic of Korea league was better closely than Saudi Arabia and Japan was third. China kept on 4th place and Uzbekistan 5th. In Africa Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, who won the third place to Argelia. Nigeria also surpassed South Africa, just the third African league on 2014. New Zeland, since Australia was in AFC, is the winner for OFC one more time.
